Truck Bed Organizer Guide: MOLLE Panels, Dividers, Drawers & Mats

A good truck bed organizer should do more than keep a few items from sliding around. It should help you find gear quickly, separate different types of cargo, and still let the truck work like a truck when you need open bed space.

What are the main types of truck bed organizers?

Most truck bed organization systems fall into five categories: drawer systems, slide-out platforms, cargo bars and nets, grid-style mats, and MOLLE-panel/divider systems. Each solves a different problem.

Drawer systems

Drawers are strong when you need enclosed, lockable storage. They can be excellent for tools and smaller equipment, but they permanently occupy a large portion of the bed and can reduce usable cargo height.

Slide-out platforms

Bed slides improve access to heavy cargo by bringing the load toward the tailgate. They are useful when access is the primary problem, but they do not automatically separate or organize gear.

Grid mats and cargo blockers

Grid-style mats create flexible zones on the bed floor. They are simple and useful for keeping boxes, coolers and totes from moving, although the organization remains concentrated at floor level.

MOLLE panels

Truck bed MOLLE panels move storage onto the sides and other vertical surfaces of the bed. Pouches, straps, recovery gear and compatible mounts can be positioned where they are easier to reach. The tradeoff is that side-only MOLLE panels do not create dedicated cargo zones by themselves.

Removable dividers

Divider systems create defined sections for tools, bags, boxes and equipment. The key question is whether those dividers are permanent, need to be stored somewhere else when removed, or can stay with the truck.

What should you look for in a truck bed organization system?

  • Open-bed flexibility: Can you quickly reclaim bed space for lumber, pallets, appliances or other large loads?
  • Vertical storage: Can frequently used gear move off the floor and onto accessible panels?
  • No-drill installation: Systems using factory mounting points are easier to remove and less invasive.
  • Real fitment: Bed length, model year, bedliner, tonneau cover, toolbox and fifth-wheel hardware can all affect compatibility.
  • Modularity: A system should adapt as your load changes instead of forcing one permanent layout.

Why combine MOLLE panels with removable dividers?

GRYD GEAR was designed around both jobs: vertical organization and cargo separation. The MOLLE surfaces give gear a place to live, while removable divider sections create zones in the bed. When you need the bed opened up, the divider sections can be removed and stowed on the rear MOLLE panel so they stay with the truck instead of taking up space in your garage.

That organize → remove/stow → haul cycle is the core difference between GRYD GEAR and a fixed truck bed organizer. See exactly how it works on the How It Works page.

Which trucks does GRYD GEAR fit?

The current launch configuration is built for 2017-2025 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks with the 6.75-foot short bed. Before planning a system, verify your truck on the Ford Super Duty fitment page.

What is the best truck bed organizer for you?

If you need locked enclosed storage, drawers may make the most sense. If your biggest problem is reaching heavy cargo, a slide may be the right tool. If you want a flexible truck bed organization system that uses MOLLE storage, separates cargo and can give the bed back when the load changes, a removable MOLLE-and-divider system is worth considering.
